It is the season for peaches, so let’s take advantage of this sweet healthy fruit! Peaches are a great fruit you can easily incorporate as a snack or healthy dessert in your diet. Peaches are high in various vitamins and minerals, particularly the mineral potassium. Low levels of potassium have been shown to increase fatigue, anxiety, muscle weakness, skin problems, memory problems, hypertension, heart problems, and vibration in your ears. Additionally, peaches are high in vitamin A and vitamin C. Peaches are low in calories: Depending on the size, one peach contains only 60-70 calories.
Perhaps the most important, peaches taste great!! Peaches are a healthy option as a snack in the afternoon when you tend to hit a slump in the day. Instead of going for caffeinated beverages and candy that might be in the office or the house, try this fruit. Bring a ripe peach with you to work as your afternoon snack and see if it is effective in satisfying your afternoon sugar cravings. Also, a ripe, sweet juicy peach might do the trick at night when you have a sweet tooth, and you won’t wake up with those sugar hangovers you get when you eat too much refined sugar before going to bed. And as always, with produce, if you can buy organic, do so.
Treat Yourself to a peach!
Until next time!
