How to have a Healthier Halloween!

Its that time of yeat again! It's Halloween! Halloween is a super fun night, but it's also a night    with lots of sugar! Here are 6 tips on how you can have a healthier Halloween this year!

Tip 1: Make nutritious, delicious main course meals. You can serve different salads, roll-up sandwiches, raw veggies with hummus, guacamole and other dips, natural corn chips, and fruit salad. You can check out my blogs at www.emilyspowerfoodsliving.com for healthy, delicious party recipes and snack foods!

Tip 2: Serve healthy desserts.  Check out these three yummy raw dessert recipes that I found.
They taste just like the real thing, and are packed with vitamins and minerals.

Tip 3: Eat a healthy dinner before trick-or treating. This way you & your guests will fill up on the good stuff like veggies and lean proteins before trick-or-treating. Remember, organic food contains the most nutrients, and is therefore the most satisfying and filling. When we eat organic, we don’t want the refined sugar as much.

Tip 4: Just say NO to the sugary candy if you know that eating one piece will lead to a sugar binge.

Tip 5: Replace the bowls of M&Ms and mini-snickers you might have  put out in the past with bowls of almonds,

natural corn chips, or kale chips.

You can now buy delicious spiced almonds and great gluten-free chips. Farmer’s markets are a great place to find flavored almonds for parties and Casa Sanchez Totopos Chips are my favorite, made with Quinoa, Maca, and Chia seeds!

Tip 6: Eat mindfully. Savor your food, let it digest, and then decide if you are hungry for that delicious raw dessert!

If you have kids, these tips will give your kids energy for a fun night of trick-or treating and fill them up so they might not want to eat as much candy. And if you are entertaining friends, you are sure to impress them with delicious recipes because most people want to eat healthy now.

Wishing you the Best Halloween this year,
Emily
